Overview
The ideal excursion for those who love culture and history. A visit to the most famous Kasbahs and Ouarzazate is planned.
Itinerary
We will leave Marrakech early as this will be a fairly long trip. The route will take us over the High Atlas on impressive mountain roads . We will enjoy the plunging views of the picturesque valleys and berber villages. We will pass by vendors selling semi-precious stones as we make our way to the Tizi’n’Tichka pass. This is the highest mountain pass in the Atlas Mountains with 2260 meters of altitude. As we descend southwards the landscape becomes arid. You will then start to see semi-desert landscapes with kasbahs and small mud and straw houses. Towards lunchtime we will reach the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou. This village has often served as natural setting for numerous films and is declared a UNESCO world heritage Site since 1986. We will visit the Kasbah and then continue to Ouarzazate, a modern military town, built by the French and one of the gateways to the desert. You will have free time for lunch, so you can wander around the town. In the afternoon, we will visit the famous Kasbah of Taourirt.
We will return to Marrakech in the late afternoon.
