7 days Marrakech desert Tour

We will leave Marrakech at 08h00 and cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi’n’Tichka Pass (2,260 metres) as we make our way to Ouarzazate. On our way we will be able to admire the breathtaking and vertiginous landscapes and the villages perched along the valleys and above rivers. We will make a short tour and visit the Kasbah of Telouet, which is one of the oldest in Morocco after which we will visit another Kasbah at Ait Ben Haddou, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After lunch we will continue our journey to the beautiful oasis of Skoura where we will spend the night just outside the town in a lovely family-run auberge and fabulous views over the oasis. Nothing can compare with lying on the roof terrace gazing at the stars.

In the morning after a delicious Moroccan breakfast that you can enjoy as you admire the views over the oasis, we will wander down through the oasis to Skoura and you will be able to discover local life and perhaps visit a market. We will then make our way along the Rose Valley, famous for the wild roses that grow here and that are used to make rose water and rose-perfumed cosmetics. The valley is also called the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs and you will be astonished by the multitude of deep ochre-coloured palaces and kasbahs that dot the valley. we will stop at Kalaat Mgouna for a short visit to a cosmetic rose manufacturer. Depending on weather conditions we can take the car off-road and drive through stunning mountainous desert landscapes and enjoy a world of silence and beauty far from the hustle and bustle of the roads. Our journey continues to the Dades Gorge along magnificent orchards and impressive rock formations. On our arrival at the Gorge we will check into a typical and romantic hotel set up in an ancient Kasbah.

After your typical delicious Moroccan breakfast you will be able to spend some time admiring the vertiginous landscapes surrounding the gorge before we continue our journey towards the Todra Gorge. Passing by Boulman Dades where we will have lunch. In the afternoon we drive through magnificent rock formations. We can stop for you to admire them or even spend some time walking along the river beds among the silver birches. We will arrive in the afternoon at the Todra Gorget.

This is the perfect opportunity to do a little hiking in the hills surrounding the gorge. We can organise a guide who will take you on a 3-hour trek in the hills where you may come across local Berbers who live in the mountains. After a picnic lunch, we will then head off for the desert passing through towns like Erfoud or Rissani where you start to feel the ambiance of the desert. Our journey continues through the desert landscapes with the Jebel Sahro mountains on the horizons until we arrive in Merzouga, where will find camels and Touareg cameleers waiting to take us on our trek into the desert and the Erg Chebbi sand dune. We will spend the evening in our Bedouin camp and dine around the bonfire under the stars. If you are lucky, our Touareg hosts may put on a musical show for us. Welcome to the wonderful south of Morocco.

Early morning to get ready for your camel ride in the rising sun. On arrival in Merzouga you will be able to take a shower and eat breakfast in a comfortable hotel. After breakfast your adventure continues as we make our way towards Agdz with the Atlas Mountains to one side of us and the Jebel Sahro on the other and by now you will be accustomed to the wonderful desert landscapes. We will stop for lunch at the oasis of Nkob. The views from our restaurants over the town and the oasis are magnificent and you will definitely feel that you are in another world. In the afternoon we will continue until we reach Agdz, where we will check into a wonderful Kasbah with swimming pool. You have the evening free to relax and enjoy the peace.

You can spend time at your leisure this morning, taking a slow breakfast, enjoying a swim and visiting the Kasbah of Tamnagoult until our guide collects you to visit the local town of Agdz with a visit to the market (depending on the day). We will then go for a walk in the mountains until we reach a lovely little waterfall guarded over by Omar who will prepare us a delicious meal. You will be able to cool down in the little lake formed by the waterfall and enjoy the wonderful peace. We will return to Agdz at the end of the afternoon.

We will take the road to Ouarzazate, where we can visit the cinema studios, visit the Kasbah of Telouet. Then it’s uphill over the Atlas Mountains with the beautiful Berber villages. We will stop near the Tizi ‘n Tichka pass.

We will arrive in Marrakech late afternoon and either take you to the airport or to your hotel depending on your flight.
