Atlas Mountain and Imperial Cities in 7 days Tour from Marrakech to Fes

Arrival and visit of the imperial city of Fes with the hustle and bustle in the busy streets of the labyrinth of the ancient medina. Overnight accommodation in a traditional riad.

After breakfast in your riad, we will leave Fes and make our way towards Meknes. On the way, we will visit the magnificent Roman ruins of Volubilis that will take you back through history. Our journey continues through the beautiful mountain villages of the Middle Atlas, where you’ll catch glimpses of the High Atlas. We will stop at a little Berber village in the biggest forest of Morocco and if you are lucky, you may well get a glimpse of some Barbary apes. Dinner and overnight accommodation in the town of Midelt in the mountains.

After breakfast we head into the deep south and the town of Merzouga, the gateway to the desert. Your journey takes you through the Tizi‘n’Talgham pass and the Ziz Gorge. You will then start noticing a change to desert scenery when we reach Errachidia. Here we will enjoy a traditional lunch with Berber hospitality. We later drive through charming places such as Erfoud or Rissani. We later arrive in Merzouga, where we will find camels and Touareg cameleers waiting to take us on our 1.5-hour trek into the desert and the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. We will spend the evening in our Bedouin camp and dine around the campfire under the stars. If you are lucky, our Touareg hosts may put on a musical show for us. Welcome to the wonderful south of Morocco!

Early morning to get ready for a camel ride in the rising sun. On arrival to Merzouga, you will be able to take a shower and enjoy breakfast in a comfortable hotel. After breakfast your foray into the desert continues as we make our way to another gateway to the desert, the town of Zagora. On the way, we will stop at a village called Nkob which has breathtaking views over the oasis. After lunch we will continue our journey towards Zagora, travelling down the impressive Draa Valley, the biggest palm grove in Morocco and a route that is littered with hundreds of kasbahs. On our arrival in Zagora we will find camels and Touareg cameleers waiting to take us on our trek into the sand dunes. We will spend the evening in our Bedouin camp and dine around the campfire under the stars. Another magical night in the desert of Morocco.

After breakfast in a hotel or campsite, we will take the road to Tamegroute and visit the oldest library in Morocco. Our journey continues up the Draa Valley until we reach Tamnougalt, where we will visit its impressive Kasbah. Our journey takes us through a wonderful mineral landscape with stunning views as far as the eye can see until we reach Ouarzazate, “the Hollywood of Africa”. This city has attracted many world class movie producers. You can visit the cinema studios if you like and see props used in movies you may have seen, such as The Mummy, Gladiator and the Last temptation of Christ. We will spend the night in Ouarzazate in a typical riad or guest house.

After breakfast, you will have some free time to spend as you wish. We will start our final leg of our journey to Marrakech. We will stop at the Kasbah of Ait ben Haddou, a UNESCO world heritage site that you will be able to visit. After lunch we start our ascent into the High Atlas Mountains, littered with Berber villages. We cross the Tizi’n’Tichka pass (2,300 metres) and arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon.

Free time to spend as you wish depending on the time of your flight. We transfer you to the airport and help you with your check-in.
