El Jadida is a nice port city that is not very far from Marrakech. It is a good place to enjoy fresh seafood and to learn something about history.

Day 1 :
Day trip from Marrakech to El Jadida
El Jadida, previously known as Mazagan (Portuguese: Mazagão), was seized in 1502 by the Portuguese. It is 201 km from Marrakech and was built as a fortified colony. The city is surrounded by many gates and a wall to defend its inhabitants from enemies. The surviving buildings include the cistern, the church of the Assumption and also the festival of horses. After a delicious lunch in the city, we will head back to Marrakech.
